This comprises the full range of issues encountered by businesses or individuals when dealing with Government or Governmental agencies in the UK or abroad. It would generally be litigated either through judicial review and/or subject-specific appeals procedures. Several members of chambers have extensive experience of this field across a wide range of subject-matter from governmental regulation of utilities (gas, electricity, water, telephones) to climate change (UK and EU) and a wide variety of levies, quotas and charges. In the EU and international field, a growing area of work is advice and litigation in relation to sanctions, either general or targeted, the resultant blocking statutes (e.g. EU Regulation 2271/96), travel bans/asset freezing orders and possible damages claims for illegal sanctions.
